While some events have been coming in thick and fast, a new, and possibly surprising winner, has come to light.
Taking place in Kissimmee, Florida, just south of Orlando, 150 players took part in a $5,000 prize pool tournament, and in surprising terms, a Darth Vader blue deck won it all.
Gui Cohen, a former Flesh and Blood champion, went all the way with this interesting Darth Vader, Dagobah Swamp deck. While having a lot of the characteristics of Iden Red decks we’ve seen recently, the tables have turned with Vader in this control deck.
Another near replica deck by George Hudson also made the top-16 of the event.
The top 8 and their deck lists were as follows:
- 1st: Gui Cohen – Darth Vader – Dagobah Swamp
- 2nd: Andrew Cox – Boba Fett – Energy Conversion Lab
- 3rd/4th: Michael Carlock – Sabine Wren – Energy Conversion Lab
- 3rd/4th: Philip Ritchie – Luke Skywalker – Echo Base
- 5th-8th: Frank Myers- Sabine Wren – Chopper Base
- 5th-8th: Tyler Steenmeijer – Boba Fett – Energy Conversion Lab
- 5th-8th: Daniel Alcala – Darth Vader – Command Center
- 5th-8th: Richard Douglass – Sabine Wren – Energy Conversion Lab
The entire pool of leaders were:
A surprising turnout for Vader, and possibly a lack top placements for Iden.
